How To Customize the Registration, Check-in and Login Process

Add passwords, customize the order of your registration fields, update the login settings as part of your BigMarker event

Before your event registrants interact with your content, they'll need to register, check-in, or log in. In this article we'll cover the various settings and features you have available when configuring these processes.

Note: This is only available for channels with an event license. If interested, please contact our Events Experts at sales@bigmarker.com or your customer success manager.

Before you configure these settings, it's best to have the other pieces of your registration process set:

Customizing the registration settings

Your event's registration can be organized in a few different ways, and depending on the needs of your event, you'll want to set these up in a certain manner. These settings are primarily based on the order of your registration form and your ticket selection.

Form first or ticket first?

In the Registration & Passes section of the event dashboard, click on settings. The first option you'll see at the top is what your registrants will see after they click "Register" on your landing pages. Will they see the registration form first, or will they select their tickets first? If you have matchmaking enabled, you can also have them answer matchmaking questions first, otherwise they'll be included in the check-in process.

There are a few reasons you would want to choose either option:

Registration form first

  • You have certain ticket passes that are only available to certain email addresses on a list.
  • You want to make certain ticket passes dependent on answers given to your custom registration fields.

Ticket select first

  • You have registration fields that are dependent on which ticket is selected
  • You are allowing users to purchase multiple tickets for other people

Additional registration settings

Below this first setting there are a few others that are important to consider:

  • Only allowing registrants to be able to select & purchase one ticket
  • Allowing users to buy tickets for other people without providing their information (auto generate additional registrants)
  • Allow users to register with the same email address multiple times

If you are using the BigMarker-provided pages for ticket selection & checkout, then you'll also find settings here to update the design, copy and images shown in these pages.

Customizing the check-in and login experiences

After registering, users have the ability to check in. While most of the settings can be found when creating and enabling the check-in pages there are a few settings you should consider as part of the registration flow.

In the event dashboard go to Check-in then Virtual Check-In settings. Here you'll find a few settings that are important to consider for your registration experience:

  • Check in flow - will users visit the check-in flow every time they log in, or only the first time?
  • Redirect after completing check-in
  • Whether or not you require users to log in with their personal password, or if a password is needed even with a personal link
  • If users are sent an email for verification when trying to log in.
