How to Restrict Registration for a Session

Prevent unwanted guests from accessing your webinar or virtual event sessions by restricting registration on your landing page.

For security purposes, hosts may want to restrict registration for their webinar or virtual event sessions. There are a few different ways registration can be limited or restricted. Some will be used to restrict registration for everyone, and others will allow you to curate a specific audience:

  • Hosts can disable the registration form on their session's landing page.
  • Hosts can require attendees to verify their email addresses after registering
  • Hosts can create allow or block lists to restrict registration based on email address
  • Hosts can create location-based rules to restrict or allow registration from specific countries

Disabling registration from the webinar landing page

If you are hosting your webinar on BigMarker but collecting registration from another source, you may want to disable registration on the BigMarker landing page. To do this all you need to do is go to the edit tab of your webinar dashboard and find the setting for Disable webinar registration.

Once this is activated, additional registration restriction options will appear:

  • To require attendees to verify their email address before they enter your webinar, check Require Registration Email Verification.
  • To allow registration only after your session has begun, check Enable people to register after webinar opens to attendees.

Requiring email verification after registering

If you want to ensure all of your registrants have valid email addresses, you can enable email verification on the confirmation page. Just look for Double Opt-In to enable this for all of your registrants.

Allow & block lists

For any webinar or series, you can provide a list of email addresses which can either be a block list or an allow list. You can also add entire email domains to block certain companies or email providers. Click here to learn more about this feature.

Geo-fencing

If you want to restrict registration based on the physical location of the registrant, you can use geo-fencing. Here you can easily select which countries can register and which cannot. Click here to learn more about this feature.
