Customize your Attendee Companion App Home Page

Customize the content of your event's app to give your in-person attendees the best experience possible

Note: This is only available for channels with an event license. If interested, please contact our Events Experts at sales@bigmarker.com or your customer success manager.

The home page of the companion app is what your attendees will see as soon as they open it. It's the gateway to the in-person experience that you can fully customize to your event. You'll have total control over the content shown here, and it only takes a few clicks to update.

Adding widgets to your app's home page

The home page of your app is comprised of widgets. These are going to be clickable/tappable buttons and images that guide the registrant to different parts of your event. You can create and add as many widgets as you like, and you'll be able to customize exactly where your registrants will go for each of them.

You companion app must be enabled and configured by the BigMarker team before changes made here will be visible. Contact your customer success manager if you have any further questions.

Visit the event admin dashboard and go to the Mobile App section within the On-site experience. You'll see this link i the left-hand navigation. From here, click on Home Page to get started.

After you customize the welcome text message, look for the blue plus button, and click on that to start adding a widget. Once you do so, you'll be presented with some options: either using a preset widget, or adding your own custom widget.

Adding a preset widget

You have many different options for preset widgets. For some of these, you'll only be able to add one, while others you can add multiple.

The Session Highlight will allow you to choose one session from your event to present it on your home page. Typically, this would be a keynote presentation, something all users should be interested and able to see. Select a session for this widget, and then users will be able to quickly get to the details for that session, like the room location, presenters, description, and every the live stream if it is a hybrid session.

The Agenda will let you display your event's agenda as a widget. This will display all the upcoming sessions that you have as part of your event.

Requested connections is a great widget to add if you are using the networking center as part of your event. This widget will display all incoming requests to connect that each user gets, almost like friend or follow requests but just for your event.

The Check-in widget takes the user to their own profile, and allows them to update their information. This is similar to some of the features found in the virtual check-in.

The Exhibitors slideshow allows you to showcase specific exhibitors. When you add this widget, you can choose any number of exhibitors and how quickly the banner image will change. The image used here for each booth is the Booth Background and tapping on them will take users to that exhibitors booth in the app.

Lastly the Slideshow banner works similarly to the exhibitors slideshow, but instead of using the Expo hall, the images and destinations for them are customized within this widget. You will add individual images and custom URLs for each of them.

Adding a custom widget

If you want to take your users to a different place not covered by the preset widget, you can make a custom widget. When doing this, you'll be able to not only add text and destination, you'll also be able to add an image and adjust the size of the widget. You'll also have the ability to choose and in-app location, or choose to send them to a different URL.
