Streamline consistent answers into your analytics reports by creating Data Mapping, which is setting output responses from input responses that are similar, yet different.
With Data Mapping, you can consolidate the potential variants of audience responses into a single, unified set of values. Whether it is a registration field, poll or survey, you can make it so your registrant inputs one response, and the response map changes it to another to better work with your integration & analytics workflows.
How to Enable Data Mapping
Visit your channel settings and open up the Data Mapping section. Click New Data Map to get started.
Give your map a name, then start putting in your input and output responses.
Enter in the inputs (potential data users would enter) and the corresponding output (what the response will be changed into) into the fields. You can add as many inputs and outputs to a Data Map as desired.
You are able to use blank values in the data map as well. For example, if you want to convert a specific response to a blank value, or if you want to convert a blank value into a different response, simply leave one of the fields blank and the data will reflect this.
From there, you can associate your Data Mapping to specific Custom Registration Fields, GDPR Fields, Polls and Surveys.
When you use data mapping, the output values will replace the original response, and the original input will not be saved in your reporting.
Adding Data Mapping to Custom Registration Fields
You can add data mapping to custom registration fields of any response type. This way, your data mapping options are not limited to just text field response types, but also dropdown and checkbox response types as well. Follow the below steps to apply data mapping to your custom registration or GDPR fields.
When you go to add or edit a custom registration field and scroll down and check off Apply data mapping (Transform responses with custom data mapping). Then you can use the dropdown menu to select the which Data Map to use for this field. Data Mapping, edit a Data Mapping or create a Data Mapping
Adding Data Mapping to Polls
On the dashboard, head over to the pre-load polls page. Click Create a Poll and check off Apply data mapping (Transform responses with custom data mapping). Similar to the registration field, you'll choose which data map to use.
Adding Data Mapping to Surveys
When creating your survey questions, you'll find a setting for Data Mapping for each individual poll question. This setting will work the same way as the same setting does for the registration field and polls.
