[Home, Channel & Profile Settings](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/getting-started?hsLang=en#home-channel-profile-settings) # How to Set a Virtual Background ## Spark conversations, draw attention to the subject matter or simply make the webinar experience more enjoyable with Virtual Backgrounds BigMarker has virtual backgrounds for presenters and attendees to use along with their cameras during sessions.  #### **How do virtual backgrounds work? ** Virtual backgrounds will recognize where you are in the camera feed and separate you from the background. The background will then be replaced by the virtual background of your choosing.  #### **What kind of virtual backgrounds can I use on BigMarker? ** Participants can use images or videos as virtual backgrounds, and even use a sponsor's logo to create a premium sponsorship placement for their event. They can use one of our provided backgrounds or upload a custom image (png file) or video (mp4) background.  Virtual backgrounds can spark conversations, draw attention to the subject matter or simply make the webinar experience more enjoyable. Read on to learn more about activating this feature. **Note**: To use virtual backgrounds, your camera must be turned on and hardware acceleration must be enabled on your browser. You must be on Chrome or Edge.  ### **How can I set my virtual background? ** When you enter the session as a presenter or admin you will be prompted to choose your video and audio devices. Turn on your camera, then click on **Virtual Backgrounds**. Click one of the thumbnails that appear to apply that background to your camera feed. ![](https://kb.bigmarker.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Jul-09-2025-07-45-12-7817-PM.png?width=600&height=442&name=image-png-Jul-09-2025-07-45-12-7817-PM.png) If you do not wish to use a virtual background but want to obscure whatever may be behind you, simply toggle on **Blur Background**. To remove whatever the current virtual background is, click on **Remove Background**. Under the Virtual Background section, click **Remove Background** to clear your virtual background. Click **Apply New Settings** at the top to save and go back into the webinar room.  (**Note:** If you click the **X** button, your virtual background will not clear and still be present in the webinar room.)  Additionally, our Enterprise plan holders can now add custom images for virtual backgrounds. To add custom images, go to your [Channel Settings](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/what-are-my-channels-features?hsLang=en) and visit the **Virtual Background settings**.
