Link Lock helps you avoid duplicate attendees or presenters in your webinar room, which can impact analytics and distort key data collected
The Link Lock setting helps maintain accurate attendee and presenter data by limiting how many times a personalized event link can be used. This prevents registrants from sharing their unique access links beyond a set limit, reducing the risk of duplicate attendees or presenters in your webinar room.
Link Lock works by restricting access to the number of times a personalized link can be used to join a session. For example, if Jane Doe registers and receives a custom access URL, but shares it with John Doe, both would enter the event under Jane's name. With Link Lock enabled, you can cap the number of uses (up to 5), helping to ensure each participant joins under their correct identity.
Note: Link lock works only when the link is being used from two separate computers.
How to Set Up Link Lock
On the webinar dashboard, click the Edit tab at the top. Then navigate to the Advanced Settings on the left hand side, then scroll down until you see Attendee Link Sharing Lock. Use the dropdown menu to select the amount of times an attendee’s link can be accessed (up to 5).
Set a custom message for when a link has been shared the maximum number of times. This message appears after someone is redirected away from the live virtual session when the link lock triggers.
Choose to set a redirect URL if the link lock is exceeded. If this is not filled in, it will automatically redirect them to the webinar landing page.
Scroll down to Presenter Link Lock Sharing and repeat these steps to enable this setting for presenters.
When an attendee or presenter enters your room, and has shared their link with another attendee/presenter, the second attendee/presenter will be redirected back to the landing page or your redirect URL, preventing them from entering the room.
Presenters will be redirected back to their presenter landing page. Attendees will be redirected to the webinar’s landing page. .
