Limit the amount of times a personal Attendee or Presenter link is used with Link Lock

prevent having duplicate attendees or presenters within your webinar room, which could throw off analytics or other important data points gathered with Link Lock

New as of 07/13/2022: Customize the warning message for attendees who use duplicate links.

Our link lock setting prevents attendees and presenters from sharing their personalized link more than once, or your desired amount. This is a great way to prevent having duplicate attendees or presenters within your webinar room, which could throw off analytics or other important data points gathered.

The link lock setting works by only allowing an attendee to enter in your event using their personalized link so many times. For example, Jane Doe registers for your event and receives her own customized URL to enter as an attendee. Jane Doe shares her URL with John Doe, so when they enter your event they both appear as Jane Doe. The link lock prevents this from happening so many times, as you can limit the number of shares up to 5.

How to Set Up Link Lock

Note: Link lock works only when the link is being used from two separate computers.

  1. On the Manage Webinar dashboard, click the Edit tab at the top
  2. Click Advanced Settings on the left hand side
  3. Scroll down until you see Attendee Link Lock Sharing
  4. Use the dropdown menu to select the amount of times an attendee’s link can be accessed.
  5. Scroll down to Presenter Link Lock Sharing and repeat step 4.
  6. Click Save Changes

When an attendee or presenter enters your room, and has shared their link with another attendee/presenter, the second attendee/presenter will be redirected back to their landing page preventing them from entering the room.

For presenters, they will be redirected back to their presenter landing page:

For attendees, they will be redirected to the webinar’s landing page.

You can customize the message attendees get when trying to enter with the same link as another attendee. In the Link sharing exceeded message text field, enter in the custom message warning attendees they are entering in your event with a duplicate link.

You can customize the redirect location for attendees by adding a URL under Link Lock Sharing Redirect URL? If this is not filled in, it will automatically redirect them to the webinar landing page.
