Introducing Low Latency and Real Time Webcast Mode with 0-3 Second Delays

Experience all of the benefits of webcast mode (which is our most accessible mode across all browser and device types) while collecting real time responses from attendees during the session

Live events can now operate on much shorter delays: either 3 seconds with Low Latency Webcast Mode or a 0-1 second delay in webcast mode with our new Real Time Webcast mode setting.

This allows you to experience all of the benefits of webcast mode (which is our most accessible mode across all browser and device types) while collecting real time responses from attendees during the session.

In this article, you’ll learn when to use Real Time Webcast Mode, How to Enable Low Latency Webcast Mode for all your Sessions, and how to enable Real Time Webcast mode in your individual sessions.

How to Enable Low Latency Webcast Mode:

You cannot enable Low Latency Webcast Mode on your own events, you will need to reach out to support@bigmarker.com (or reach out to your BigMarker Account Team) with the following information:

  • The email address of the main admin account
  • The URL to your Channel

Once you submit this information to our team, we will enable Low Latency Webcast Mode on all of your future sessions. There is no way to set this feature for individual sessions exclusively at this time however this feature will be enabled as a default in the future.

When Should I Use This Feature?

Please note that both our Real Time Webcast Mode and Low Latency Webcast Mode are currently in Beta and should not be used  in live events with more than 250 attendees. Also note that if you are scheduling an event with attendees that operate  behind a firewall, these attendees may be operating on a later delay (can be up to 15-30 seconds depending on the strength of the firewall)  than attendees who are accessing the session without a firewall (0-3 seconds).

To prevent this inconsistency in lag time among attendees, we recommend using regular webcast mode. (This way, all attendees will experience the same 10-30 second delay.)

How to Locate the Real Time Webcast Mode Toggle in Your Event

Unlike the Low Latency Webcast mode, you can enable the Real Time Webcast Mode on your individual sessions’ engagement permissions section of the Dashboard. There is no way to enable Real Time Webcast Mode for all future sessions at this time, however we recommend utilizing the feature in your Live Webinar and On Demand Webinar Templates.

  1. Log in to your Webinar and select the Manage Webinar tab
  2. Staying in this tab, scroll down to the Audience Engagement section of the Dashboard and find Real Time Webcast Mode (Beta).
  3. Flip the Toggle ON
