Calculated field - a new type of registration field

Provide direct access to registrant and attendee activity data to use in analytics and integrations

Calculated fields offer immediate access to user activity data, including engagement metrics like the number of chats or Q&As submitted. Because these are registration fields, calculated fields can be leveraged in custom reports, channel analytics or exported to your CRM of choice.

Calculated field is an Enterprise only feature

To use a calculated field, create or edit a custom registration field and select Calculated Field under the field type setting.

When you make a calculated registration field, it is forced to be a hidden registration field. Calculated fields will never be shown on a registration form.

With the calculated field type selected, you'll see a new option appear to select which data will be used in this field. The options here will be actions taken during a live webinar, such as the number of chat messages, or during registration, like which coupon code was used.

Once you have a calculated registration field, you'll see it within the list of hidden registration fields. You will also see an option to Re-sync data. Clicking this button will calculate the data to be the most up to date.

For example, you may have created this field before the webinar starts. Once the webinar ends and you'll want to click this on your calculated fields to capture all of the data from the attendee engagement that happened during the webinar.

Custom Calculations

The calculated field can be much more than these preset options. With assistance from your BigMarker Customer Success Manager (CSM), calculated fields can integrate not only user activity data but also various elements from the webinar itself, allowing you to customize and format the information to suit your specific needs.

Here are some examples of what you can accomplish with this field:

  • Combine webinar details, webinar tags, and registration information in one field
  • If/then behavior using other registration fields and activity as criteria
    • For example, you have a calculated field to determine who is a qualified lead. It could be configured to mark a user as "Qualified" if the registrant's title is "CEO," the company size is "100+," and they attended the webinar for more than 5 minutes.

Just like any other registration field, these custom calculated fields can be passed on to your custom reports, analytics and integrations, providing fully customized information for all of your registrants. Talk to your CSM today about possibilities with the calculated field.
