What is webcast quality?
Decide what quality your attendee stream and on-demand recording will be based on your needs
For any live webinar on BigMarker, you have the ability to provide a webcast stream. Webcast processes the webinar stream so that all sorts of users are able to view the webinar as an attendee. Additionally, it's also where your on-demand recording will come from.
The attendee experience
For viewers in the webcast webinar room, there are always two separate streams that they may be watching:
- Most users will see the stream at 1080p resolution, which will come at the quality configured with the setting below
- For users with poor internet connections, they will see a stream at 720p resolution. This stream will always come at a 0.5mbps bitrate.
The webcast quality setting
With the 1080p webcast stream, you customize the picture quality by setting the maximum bitrate available for your attendees to watch the stream. From the dashboard of your live session, visit the edit tab and go to your advanced settings. From here, look for Webcast Quality.

The three options you'll have for webinars are:
- High - 5mbps
- Great for sessions with screenshare and shared videos using lots of motion and detailed imagery.
- Medium - 2.5mbps
- The default option, a good balance of quality and network requirements
- Low - 1mbps
- Great for audiences with worse internet or restrictive network requirements.
Save these settings and you webinar will be all set. Remember that you are not able to edit this setting after the webinar room opens.
