If your virtual session is likely to attract a diverse audience, you'll want to prepare tailored materials for different participants and establish distinct workflows for collecting leads. With **Segments**, you're able to group your registrants together, and then use those segments to determine the experience each group receives. ### Creating and Managing your Segments Before you create segments, you'll need to have [custom registration fields](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/how-to-create-custom-registration-fields-for-your-virtual-events?hsLang=en) added to your session. These fields should have values for each of your registrants so they can be included in the segment. Visit the [session admin](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/introducing-the-new-session-admin?hsLang=en) of your session, then visit **Audience \> Segments** where you'll be able to create and manage your segments. ![](https://kb.bigmarker.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Mar-25-2026-03-14-07-8544-PM.png?width=600&height=286&name=image-png-Mar-25-2026-03-14-07-8544-PM.png)   Click on **New segment** and you'll see a new set of settings to name and configure your segment. In the **Segment criteria** fields, you'll choose the registration field with which the segment will filter. Then in the **Equals any of the following:** you'll be able to type or paste in the values that will determine which registrants will be included in the segment. add as many values as you would like by clicking on **Add answer option**. ![](https://kb.bigmarker.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-May-18-2026-10-00-52-5703-PM.png?width=450&height=481&name=image-png-May-18-2026-10-00-52-5703-PM.png) In the example above, we want to create a segment for all registrants with a C-Suite title. Click **Save** and you segment is complete.  ### Using your segments #### Using segments in the webinar room Once you have your segments, you can start [pre-loading content](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/how-to-pre-load-content-to-virtual-events-webinars?hsLang=en) tailored to them. You can do this with [polls](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/short-answer-polls-now-include-real-time-results-for-attendees-and-hosts?hsLang=en), [offers](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/hc/en-us/articles/4415533831060-can-i-add-an-image-to-my-custom-embed-html-pop-up-offer-?hsLang=en) and [handouts](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/handouts-on-bigmarker-share-resources-with-your-audience?hsLang=en). In all of these, the setting will be the same. For example, when creating or editing a poll, you will see a new option: **Only show to specific Segments of attendees**. If you use certain [integrations](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/integrating-your-crm-tools-with-bigmarker?hsLang=en) you can apply statuses and filters to your exported registrant lists: - With the [Pardot integration](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/integrate-pardot-with-bigmarker#segment), you can sort your registrant into different Segmentation Lists on Pardot based on your BigMarker Segments. - With the [Salesforce integration](https://kb.bigmarker.com/knowledge/how-to-integrate-salesforce-with-bigmarker#campaign-member), you are able to apply custom campaign member statuses based on your Segments. ### Using Segments in the classic admin To find Segments in classic admin, simply go to **Segments** from the left-hand menu.
